Horse Racing To Open
May 18th at Grants Pass Downs

“It’s a Photo Finish!” will be the theme this year for Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing at Grants Pass Downs, slated to start May 18th.

The season includes 22 full days of racing every Saturday and Sunday and holiday from May 18 thru July 7, plus Friday’s June 14, 21, 28 and July 5th. Post Time is at 1:00 pm with Friday post time at 5:00 p.m. at the Josephine County Fairgrounds.

Track officials expect a great turnout for Oregon’s second largest race meet because purses this year will average $2,000. for each race.

Special derbies, stakes races and futurities will dot the season’s race card including the Firecracker Futurity to be run July 4th.

The excitement known as “The Sport of Kings” features America’s fastest athletes going from 0 to 50 mph in less than three seconds with a blur of silks at the finish line. Hold on to that ticket until the results are final, it could be a PHOTO FINISH!

Nine races will be scheduled each day with a maximum field of 8 horses. The win, place and show wagers result in at least six winning tickets for each race. Creative wagering is available where combination picks like the Daily Double, Trifecta and Quinella can sometimes result in a substantial payoff.

Admission is $2.00 and parking is free – Food and Beverages are available.  Come join us for the “Sport of King”
